The State of our Workforce Western NC: 2022 Analysis With more than 470,000 people living in the Asheville Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), more than ten million people living in North Carolina, and continued growth forecast for our region and our state, a strong, skilled, and diverse talent pipeline will continue to drive our economic success.  Understanding gaps in our region’s existing talent pipeline and identifying opportunities to fill them are essential steps toward ensuring prosperity across Western North Carolina.
